Manthey Performance Kit – 911 GT2 RS (991.2)

The Manthey Performance Kit for the 911 GT2 RS (Type 991 II) was developed in close collaboration between the Porsche Development Centre in Weissach and Manthey-Racing GmbH. Thanks to coordinated suspension, aerodynamics and braking components and the lightweight GT2 RS magnesium wheels, the breathtaking performance of the 991 GT2 RS has been tuned even more precisely to the demands of trackdays and tourist drives.

Porsche set a new course record at the Nürburgring in the sports car category in June 2021 with a 911 GT2 RS equipped with a Manthey Performance Kit: The road-approved speedster completed a lap [sic] of the 20.8 km Nordschleife in just 6:43.300 minutes.

Aerodynamics package
Porsche and Manthey combined their respective technologies and know-how in the development of the aerodynamics package. In addition, individual components were developed with an eye to the defined performance targets. For instance, downforce at the front has been increased from 49 kg to 70 kg at a speed of 200 km/h through the use of a carbon underbody, additional air baffle elements in the area of the front wheels and flics on the front apron. The downforce at the rear end is increased from 93 kg to 200 kg at 200 km/h thanks to the rear wing in combination with the rear diffuser and aerodiscs, all of which are manufactured in carbon, further enhancing driving stability. The aerodiscs on the rear wheels reduce turbulence at the rear and have a positive effect on aerodynamic efficiency. To accommodate the higher aero load caused by the rear wing, the rigidity at the rear end has been massively increased. The rear wing itself is attached directly to the body by means of special supports (standard: wing attached to the rear lid). The aerodynamics package achieves a shift in the aero balance and a 70% increase in overall downforce. Among other things, the aerodynamics package was tested in the wind tunnel in Weissach, which remains one of the most modern of its kind: the blower with a diameter of eight metres has extremely lightweight carbon blades and can generate wind speeds of up to 300 km/h on the tested vehicle in the measurement area. During an aerodynamic measurement, the road surface simulation under the test object and its surroundings are also moving at the wind speed.

Coilover suspension
Porsche and Manthey combined their know-how and technology from many years of experience in GT racing in the development of the Coilover suspension. A McPherson upside-down design is used on the front axle. The spring strut features a high-strength aluminium housing tube to perform its wheel guidance function reliably and durably even in race track use. The damping unit is 3-way adjustable, and the aluminium support bearings also enable easy adjustment of the camber values on the front axle. The independent low-speed and high-speed compression stage adjustment is carried out on the external reservoir via the tool-free adjusting wheels. The rebound stage can also be adjusted via an adjusting wheel on the lower end of the damper housing. If the vehicle has a standard front axle lift system, the function is retained in full. The rear axle features an aluminium spring strut. The four-way adjustable damper (compression and rebound, both low and high speed) can be adjusted via tool-free adjusting wheels directly on the damper housing. The basic setup of the high-end chassis components was determined in countless laps on international race tracks, but above all on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife, and meticulously tuned by the engineers at Porsche and Manthey.

Brake package
The racing brake pad for the PCCB ceramic braking system improves the fading characteristics as well as the responsiveness and control. What sets the brake pad apart is its constant friction characteristics over a wide temperature range and very good wear characteristics with low disc corrosion. The steel-sheathed brake line set provides even more direct pedal feedback and an accompanying faster response time. This component of the performance kit was also tested and co-developed by Manthey on the Nordschleife.

Water tank
An additional water tank for charge air cooling increases the standard volume by around 9 litres and ensures that the range is significantly extended between water refills. As a result, this allows the intake air temperature to be cooled for longer, with the objective of achieving maximum power yield.

20-/21-inch GT2 RS magnesium wheel set
The 20-/21-inch GT2 RS magnesium wheel set should also be ordered if not already installed on the vehicle. This offers an additional weight advantage of 11.4 kg in total compared with the GT2 RS aluminium alloy wheels. This wheel set (without tyres, valve as well as tyre pressure monitoring system system) is available in the following paint finishes:
– Brilliant Silver
– Black (satin-gloss)
– Aurum (satin-gloss)
– White Gold Metallic (satin-gloss)
– Platinum (satin-gloss)

The wheel set is suitable for the corresponding tyre sizes:
Front axle: 9.5 J x 20 RO 50 with 265/35 ZR 20 (99Y) XL tyres
Rear axle: 12.5 J x 21 RO 48 with 325/30 ZR 21 (108Y) XL tyres
Porsche recommends using Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tyres.

Please note: The individual components of the 911 GT2 RS Manthey Performance Kit are in perfect harmony. For this reason, they may only be installed together on the vehicle. Individual options are currently under review. This kit may only be installed, and is only intended, for vehicles which are mechanically sound, are fitted with the 20-/21-inch GT2 RS magnesium wheel set, and which have no other modifications which have not be approved by the manufacturer.
